Choose Thonglor if…
you want the restaurant, café and bar scene right outside, a shorter ride into Asok and Siam, and a much larger choice of one- and two-bedroom listings.

Rents, prices, unit sizes and the commute, side by side, from live listings.
See the numbersThonglor and Ekkamai are neighbouring stops on the BTS Sukhumvit line and share the same café and restaurant culture, so the choice is less about location than about pace. Thonglor has the denser run of restaurants and bars along Soi 55 and far more condos on the market. Ekkamai, one stop further east, has its own dining scene along Soi 63 and the Eastern Bus Terminal beside the station. Day to day, the building and its distance from the BTS matter more than which of the two it is in.

Median asking prices from PropertySights listings, not completed rentals or sales. Each figure uses only the listings that qualify for it (that bedroom count, or a usable price and size) and shows a dash when fewer than 20 qualify; the grey line under a figure gives that count. The middle 50% runs from the 25th to the 75th percentile. Figures as of 3 November 2026.
A median moves with the mix of units listed right now, so two areas can share a median and still differ in building age, unit size and condition. A building deep in a soi lives very differently from one beside the station, and floor, furnishing and facilities can matter more than the area itself. Compare the actual buildings before treating an area figure as a guide to one unit.
Both sit on the BTS Sukhumvit line: from BTS Thong Lo it is two stops to Asok, where the MRT Blue line connects, and six to Siam; from BTS Ekkamai it is one more in each case. Both areas are long sois running north from the station, Soi 55 for Thonglor and Soi 63 for Ekkamai, so a building deep in either soi relies on a shuttle, taxi or motorbike taxi rather than a walk to the BTS. Ekkamai's bus terminal makes trips to Pattaya, Rayong and the eastern seaboard easy.

you want a similar café and restaurant scene one stop further out, travel to the eastern seaboard often, or want a larger unit in a low-rise building further up Soi 63.
Area medians are a starting point; the building and the unit matter more. Tell an agent your budget and commute and get a shortlist across both areas. Free for renters and buyers.
